How do I apply for/qualify for a low income home ownership grant/loan. I am a student (1/2 time), single mother, and VERY low income. I have a chance to buy a cabin in Ak. for 19,000, but need money. Any ideas?

Most states have some type of program for low income buyers typically funded with tax exempt bond money and some larger cities may have similar programs.

Ask a local Realtor; they should be your best source.

I know in Tennessee we have an agency called "The Tennessee Housing Development Authority" or THDA for short that makes available low interest money with little or no down payments & closing costs and sometimes that is forgivable if you qualify.

Hey, what about in Cali? My student friend was asking me about that. She's still in college and is single mom. Any details, Jim Lee?

Thanks!!

A few solutions to this would be to go FHA or get a government grant. Please contact your city Urban and Development for info.

On the THDA does the home have to be in great shape or will a foreclosure that needs work be able to go through it or maybe you could recommend a morgtage company in Maryville or Knoxville that I would ask my questions to.

Thanks
