Wish we all could meet and greet there - well another time another place.

What has been the latest word about joining as a Realtor?

I would have been attending as an outsider / nonmember - probably paying a higher fee then a member - but still it sounds like a great opportunity to put faces and voices to electronic correspondence, see what is predicted, and you cannot beat 1 on 1 with the people you want to get to know.

Have fun y'all!

Oops, I edited my post. I'll be there two days. This has been one of those weeks where I can't keep track of the date or day of the week. Could it be because I've been bombarded with work, my family was visiting last week and now I have a sick kid home with me, plus REOMAC is this week? Ah well, never a dull moment...

How dressed up does everyone get for these conferences? People dress pretty casually around here. The weather has been windy and partly cloudy, pretty pleasant overall. Hope everyone's bringing their beach clothes!

People typically dress for a business function - which is a stretch for many of us who are out in POS houses most days, wearing flea repellant suits. smile

I just got back on my feet after 12 hours of being in planes and airports....I hated it!

REOMAC was not what I've expected! They brought a bunch of people to talk to us, saying "we are not taking more agents", so I said "why are you here for then?"

They didn't have the round tables as they announced, instead they have us chasing rooms to heard what the lenders/outsources had to say about their companies. So, don't feel like you missed something very important.

I'm very disheartened to hear the bad experience you had at REOMAC, can you be more specific about which companies said what?

On the other-hand, it sounds like the conference just confirmed the same message we have been witnessing everyday while doing business.

Any other REOMAC attendees have a different experience and learn anything good they would like to share?

I had a totally opposite experience. I picked up 3 new REO companies, made loads of contacts, exchanged contacts with 7 brokers, got a sit down scheduled with Wells Fargo ( which got me into PAS which has been closed here), and I learned a ton from the courses.

If you went into this to get into a business you weren't already in, it probably wasn't worth the time or money. For me, and my team- we went to look to grow and learn how to better manage what we already do. We accomplished that.

Also, the real business did not go on in the classrooms, and NO they didn't do roundtables, but if you knew where to be there WAS definately business going on. I was lucky enough to realize that the first night I was there. I also went in a day early- it gave me time to get acclimated and meet some of the other early arrivals who had done this before.

Successful for us. No regrets, would go again tomorrow.

Also, on a side note- as someone who has been doing this awhile, it was NICE to hear companies announce they were closed to new agents. Sorry, nothing personal. Self preservation. At least they put it out there right away.

All in all- they had some amazing speakers- my fave was the group of agents who handle like 1000+ properties. They sat around and talked- and I learned more from that than anything else. They had a lot of insight to offer.

I believe many of us thought this may be the case and congrats on your success.

I'm with you, A & M, I got so much out of REOMAC. The speakers were excellent, the exhibitors were high quality, and I made some awesome contacts there. Definitely worth my while.

Although it's true in the 'roundtable' sessions many companies were not taking new agents, there were also many who are accepting new agents. And it was stated many times over that REO business will keep expanding next year.

After reading above from A&M, I guess this will deter the amount of newbies coming on here to try to get in as an REO listing agent?

I agree with A&M, we thought it was a great experience. The economist that spoke was great as well as the agents with 1000+ listings.

We also meet some great people at the conference.

I too had an amazing experience and would go again tomorrow. She's right, the business was not done in the classrooms. It was the networking and the education from the other brokers there more than anything else. I met some amazing people (Hi Recovering & SaraM) at every meal. I really enjoyed the experience and the speakers they had come and speak to us about the economy and what we can expect in the future. But if you are new, it probably was a waste of money. I heard from many brokers that you won't see the total return for probably 6 months or more. It was definitely worth it and I will try to go again next spring.

Can you attend the conference as a non-member and if so, how much is it? The one I'm interested in going to is in Palm Desert.
