I just moved into a condominium. It seems most of the parking is valet. I'm guessing this is because most people like valet.

My question is: Do I tip the valets in this case? I guess I would be tipping every day.

Another problem is that usually one guy takes my car in the evening and another guy gives it back in the morning. Do I tip the one who takes the car or the one who gives it back or both?

I think if you ask the Valets - Surely They know! It will be Tip, and Tip some more . . . . You keep Tipping till it hurts. Cuzz if'a you don't, I'ma gonna fix'a you cah ! Got it ?

Living in Vermont, I don't know; so I just goggled "Proper Tipping Etiquette" and got 99,000 responses. You've got your reading agenda for the Evening ! You'll be able to refine your search to Valets

You've got a pretty unique problem there. Did the Real Estate People possibly Fail to Disclose the Tipping Expense ?

In the annals of Real Estate, this may be a first! If you knows, then you must disclose! Please let us know what the Proper Etiquette Guides say AND What the other Condo Owners say is the "Usual and Customary Tip" AND What the Valets say they want AND What the Auto Repair People say it will cost to Fix your Car when you don't pay up !

Good Reading AND Good Luck !

Thanks. One of the reasons I ask is that this situation seems different than a typical valet. If I go to a resturaunt, I expect to tip the valet, but it is just once a month maybe. I can't imagine not tipping, but tipping every day seems excessive.

When I moved in, they mentioned that there are a few rows of self-park and if that is full, you must use the valet service. Almost everytime I come home, the self-park is full. They did not say anything about tipping.

I think the best way is to ask my neighbors. I would ask the valets, but some people get nervous when you ask about stuff involving money.

I somehow thought that a Realtor or broker who shows condominiums would have this information.

I would ask other residents in the building. They may not be allowed to accept tips? In my area it is not commen to have Valets in the condos.

I've never actually used a Valet before though. Do you tip the guy who takes your car so he is gentle with it or tip the guy who brings it back undamaged? I've watched alot of Seinfeld though, so valets make me nervous.
