As a RE Agent for Century 21 in Georgia, how much commission would I make from a 2 million dollar home vs. a 200,000 dollar home?
I realize this is a pretty generalized question, but I am new to the Real Estate business and I'm just trying to get a feel for what kind of income range to expect on a sale.

That depends on:
1-What is the split with your Broker? 2-What does C21 take off the top before you split with broker? 3-What is the commission in the listing? are you the listing agent, the buyers agent, are you in dual agency and representing both(IF legal in your location)? 4-Many, many other factors to consider such as expenses, referrals, etc.
I would suggest you understand what the average earnings for agents are, what the average earnings for an agent in years 1,2,3,4,etc. What is the saying, 10% of agents do 90% of the business? Be realistic, don't count the money now, it might be a long time until you actually make any. Good luck! Work hard and it will not be long until you are a success!

Uber, I will use an average number for an example. $2,000,000 sale @ 6% total commission... buyer's agent = 3% listing agent = 3% $2,000,000 x 3% = $60,000 commission Then multiply $60,000 by whatever your company split is and that is what you will walk away with. If you represent the buyer and the seller on that deal obviously you will make $120,000. Now for the other example... $200,000 sale @ 6% total commission... $200,000 x 3% = $6,000 commission Do the math the same way with this one too. Very big difference in commission between these 2 sales!!

$6,000 is still alot of money, and thats just one sale. That's alot better then my $600 twice a month with the army. I can't wait to get my license and start being a Real Estate Agent. Being your own boss and pretty much working on your own time, and making that much, is a lot better then busting my bottom, standing at parade rest to someone who is younger than me and worrying about stuff constentely is not worth the 600 dollar pay checks.
Also, what is the average split between a broker and an agent?

Agent 007:
The calculations you show look like the broker share of the transaction before the broker to agent split. I think it is safe to say a C-21 agency is unlikely to be a 100% commission operation. UberNoober will likely see see only half of that as a new agent; maybe a better split after more experience.

Being your own boss and pretty much working on your own time, and making that much, I think you will find as a new agent, you don't get to set your hours, your clients will set your hours. As a newbie, trying to generate business, you will likely show houses to buyers whenever they want and you will meet with potential sellers whenever they want. Believe me, if you don't jump when your clients want you to (especially in this market), they will find an agent who will. The longer you are in the business, the better you should get at controlling your schedule. Good luck.

Mr. Foreclosure If you read my entire post you will notice that I also stated that the calculation needs to be multiplied by their company split.

My error Len. Yes you did and read right past it! Perhaps if you had included a nominal split in your illustration it would have been more obvious. Either way UberNoober should get the message.
