Has anyone seen this show? Overall not bad....sort of Suze Orman-esque. My only problem comes when the host, Carmen, gives mortgage advice.
Last night a guy called in asking if he should apply for a mortgage by himself or with his wife. He said his credit score was in the 720s and his wife's is in the 550s. She told him that lenders would average their two scores. Huh?? She then went on to recommend that he may want to consider applying by himself without even discussing how this may effect his DTI or if he could afford to do this at all.
On a separate show the night before, a lady called saying she going to buy a house but that she had a $9000 judgement. She never even asked if she had the funds to pay off the judgement at or prior to closing.
Has anyone else noticed that financial advisors are not the best sources of information on mortgages? There's a local radio talk show host in my area that's a financial advisor - he gives great advice on stocks/bonds, etc. but the moment he starts talking about mortgages he starts fluffing it. It drives me crazy as the caller has no idea and thinks they are getting good advice. Any one else experience this in their markets?
