Please go to the U.S. Green Building Council site if you are an agent wanting to learn more about green building. This may be the place to see the big picture. Look this site over for lots of interesting information.

www.nahb.org

Please go to the National Association of Home Builders site and go to Resources. Look for the case studies of successful projects in green building. You will appreciate these projects.

www.wikipedia.org

Go to Wiki for clearly written definitions of green building, LEED, and other terms we will need to know for today's newer homes.

Would you know of any links on the green for retrofitting existing homes?

I found this on USGBC, and it looks interesting:

http://www.greenhomeguide.org/guide_for_green_renovation/green_retrofit_checklist.html

Here's an informative article I found on the web:

http://www.durangotelegraph.com/telegraph.php?inc=/08-06-19/localnews.htm

I think a good subject around these parts today is retrofitting for hurricane winds...with Ike right down the road with winds of 115 (maybe less when it hits tomorrow).

FEMA Library has some info for retrofitting for floods, but that may not be a problem in Kansas. Try the link below or go to www.fema.gov and find the library and search for Retrofit:

http://www.fema.gov/library/viewRecord.do?id=1681

If you are looking for something specific, I'll be happy to search for you. I'm taking my computer down in the morning (Friday morning) and putting it up safe from the water, just in case I lose a window. The weather experts say we will lose power at about 70 MPH, so I may not be back on the web till about Wednesday...until then, no a/c, TV, web, fridge. When I rejoin the human race, I'll check to see if you need something specific.
